Our Story
The Nest Holmfirth CIC is a not-for-profit, community parenting space located within Holmfirth Tech in the heart of Holmfirth. We are run by parents, for parents!
Our aim is to create a thriving community of families with young children. We care about parental mental wellbeing, and we want to support early years development; helping you and your little one have the best possible start. We have a packed timetable of fun, nurturing and educational classes!
We offer a relaxing, safe, supportive space for any parent or carer and their young child/ren.
The Nest was the vision of Bel and Sam who, in early 2022, transformed an unused room in a community building into the beautiful space it is today.
Rebecca took over the mantle in September 2022 and worked hard to build up our offerings and grow our community. Since that time, The Nest has gone from strength to strength and is now led by a team of six Directors - all parents themselves. You can read more about our Directors here.
Since our inception, we have supported well over 1000 parents (and over 1000 little ones)! Our contribution to the community has been recognised by awards, including Best Start Up at the TSL Kirklees Social Enterprise Awards in 2023, and Best Start Up at the Social Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber Awards in 2024.
The Nest relies on funding to provide free and low-cost provision to families. We are grateful to all organisations who help us, and are proud to be funded by the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund (March 2023-February 2025).
